Dear Friends of HJT, Thanksgiving 2007

It's been a dynamic year at HJT and now it's time again to ask for your much needed support. Did you know that HJT was voted Best Theatre in Cape View Magazine's Top 200 list for years 2006 and 2007? Besides presenting marvelous productions ranging in breadth from Stuart Little to The Lear Project, last year we had over 32 outreach programs in 17 Cape Schools. Our first rate education programs at HJT enrolled 500 students but the request for scholarship assistance has gone up measurably. We are committed to never turning a student away. We initiated a touring ensemble called In Good Company, investing in our teens desire to create innovative theatre that addresses the challenging issues of adolescence. The Wrestling Season, a play examining the social culture of high school, was produced with help from The GALE FUND. We toured our hit production of Tuesdays with Morrie to the Massachusetts Convention of Councils on Aging where council directors from all over the state gave it a rousing standing ovation, several of whom requested performances in their own locales. We also have a fantastic 2007- 2008 season in store for you here at HJT!

In the past year we have made vast improvements to our facility including the much needed renovation of the dressing, sewing rooms and adjoining bathroom, painting of HJT's exterior, building a new box office, creating a new website (www.hjtcapecod.org) and computerizing the ticketing system. We also demolished the tumbledown structure on our back lot in hopes of a future education center. The HJT Board of Directors has entered a strategic planning process. All of these conditions combined with sky rocketing utility and overhead costs continue to challenge our finances. Ticket sales and tuition at current levels cannot begin to cover rising costs. It is also our mission to keep HJT accessible for all families.

This year we request that you reach generously into your hearts and pockets and give as much as you can to HJT. It is our wish to offer this creative, enchanting, and unique theatre experience to as many people as possible; to both the young and the young at heart. You have our promise to do everything in our power to make HJT shine even brighter; in our educational outreach programs, our classes and performances.

Please contribute to the treasure that is HJT. Your gift is tax-deductible.

In gratitude,

Nina Schuessler - Producing Artistic Director
Rebecca Alden - President
Daniel A. Wolf - Treasurer
