Harwich Junior Theatre offers a wide range of classes for students of all ages! Whether you are 3 or 103 we have a class for you! Wiggle and shake, laugh and sing with our youngest Creative Movement students. Maybe you would enjoy Comedy Improv. or would like to learn about sets and lights in a Technical Theatre workshop. From Adult Classes to Musical Theatre, we have it all.

Sound Design Workshop for one day only!!
Sound Design for Theater Saturday, March 6th from 5-7pm
Imagine a movie without sound, or a silent video game, or a play without music and sound effects. There's one word for that...Dull! Sound Design has become the most compelling and rapidly evolving form of all the theater arts. Join our class and be a part of the excitement. Learn about basic audio and sound system concepts as well as computer audio editing and music production, sound effects, underscoring dialogue and playback for theater. Facilitated by resident sound designer J Hagenbuckle Fee:$25. Ages 10-adult
Sound Design for Theater (Advanced) Saturday, March 20th, 27th and April 3rd from 2-5pm
This class picks up from Intro to Sound Design. We will create and complete a project on the Mac, load the project into Q-lab and program it for playback. We will use a number of applications to build cues and utilize techniques like importing, music editing, multitracking, mixing, adding effects and bouncing to disk. Facilitated by J Hagenbuckle Fee: $120. Ages 10-adult.

From New York to Hollywood to Plymouth?
With the film and television industry bustling in New England, get a head start by learning the tools to become a successful on-camera performer. From crafting a scene to creating a character, from delivering a monologue to mastering commercial copy, this fun and informative class will give you everything you need to be ready for the opening of "Hollywood East" right in our our own backyard!
Ethan Paulini began his training at the Harwich Junior Theatre and went on to receive his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emerson College in Boston. Now based in New York City, Ethan is a professional actor, working in New York Theatre, National Tours, Regional Theatre, National Commercials, Industrials and Television. He is the founding member of Spontaneous Evolution Ensemble (SEE Theatre), Interim Productions, a film based production company and Paulini and Howell Productions, a multimedia production company. He is a proud member of Actors Equity Association (AEA) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). Class meets at Cape Cod Community Media Center on Whites Path in South Yarmouth. |

Class Enrollment Information
A minimum enrollment of 8 students is required for the class to run. The student/teacher ratio is 12:1 for most classes. A 10% discount is offered when a student combines two or more classes or if the students attend more than one session. Scholarships and work/study arrangements are available based on need. Summer sessions are either all eight weeks (July and August) or the four week sessions listed at the top of the page. Shorter term enrollments are offered subject to availability. Audition workshop July 2, 2009 from 9am-12pm
This workshop will prepare the participant to walk in and sell themselves at any audition! Learn what to expect and how to prepare to give the director what they want.
Participants will work with well known Cape Director/Choreographer Lisa Canto who is a producer with One Brick Films in Los Angeles California and also the Lead Teacher at HJT. The workshop will cover the day in the life of the auditioner. From locating what roles are available, resumes /audition forms, head shot or no head shot, how to prep for auditions, and who is watching while I am waiting. The workshop will help the participants determine the best way to dress to impress. The do's and don'ts of auditioning, building confidence, and how to listen and deliver. covering the tools needed to leave your best performance in the room and shine among the rest. Fee:$30. Ages 9 and up
Fairy Tales for Families July 9, 2009 9am-12pm
In a fun environment of dress-up, props and make believe, favorite fairy tales are brought to life by children and their parents through the ageless "technique"of play! Bond with your child and other fairy talers in the theatre of enchantment and enactment guided by fairy tale wisdom and expressive arts facilitator Barbara Johnson. Be treated at the close of class by a visit from Bromley and Jobbie-two 24 inch tall Baby Doll sheep! Baaaaa....Fee:$30. Ages 5-8 (+parent)

Shapeshifting Dance Workshop July 30, from 9am -12pm
In this workshop for 8 to 10 year olds, we use the notion of shapeshifting as found in folktale and myth to evoke expressive movement. We start with whole body warm-ups working with gravity and grounding, coming from the floor to standing and working from the body core to body periphery. Each student takes a turn in leading the group with their own created movement. And then we work with various movement games to become familiar with the art of shapeshifting dance. And finally we work with a shapeshifting folktale as basis for structured improvisation and performance. Fee: $30
Becky Burrill is a dancer, artist, and educator and has a Massachusetts Certification in Elementary Education and a Doctorate in Education focusing on child development, movement, art-making, learning and literacy. Her work is based on the experience that learning is fundamentally a creative process, and that aesthetic sense is primary in the development of self, intelligence and well being.
DreamMask Express August 13, from 9am-12pm
Are your dreams scary, crazy, funny? Einstein dreamed the theory of relativity! Thomas Edison, inventor, napped for ‘ideas from the air’. “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” was a dream theme! Come cast your fascinating dreaming self into a mask to take away into the light of day…and display at home. Facilitated by expressive therapist, B.E. Johnson, and local artist, Cindy Sauers, who use a quick plaster gauze casting method and mask-creating as magical as a fleeting dream! Ages: Teen and up! Fee: $30 plus $5 cost for materials.
