April Vacation Week

Workshop for ages 9-12!
Monday April 15 – Friday April 19, 2013
9:00am-1:00pm
Taught by Jim Byrne and Emily Murray

What does it take to put on a play? Lights, sound, costumes, props, set and of course actors! This play production workshop will explore all aspects of the theatre! Play theatre games, learn about technical theatre and at the end of the week put on your own short production! This workshop takes place at Harwich Junior Theatre, 105 Division Street in West Harwich. Fee: $150. Please pre-register by calling Tammy at 508-432-2002 ext.17.

Creative Movement
Kathleen Healy • Preschool-Kindergarten
Saturdays 9:30-11:00
10 weeks January 11 – March 22.
Fee: $250

Fun is the goal. Children develop physical control and listening skills through rhythm exercises, imagery, non-verbal storytelling singing and poetry! Kathleen Healy is a folk singer and songwriter with a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education who shares all these skills with our littlest students!

Creative Drama I

Saturdays 9:30-11:00 am.
10 weeks January 11 – March 22.
Fee: $250

Bring the world of play into the theater: build concentration, communication, imagination and self-expression. Includes movement exercises, theater games in small and large groups, storytelling, and pantomime. Workshop concludes with a final demonstration.

Creative Drama II

Fee: $250

Improve the young actor’s theater skills through exercises and dramatizing stories. Improvisation for character development and ensemble work with scripts and original material. Includes mime, stage movement, theater games and a final demonstration. Great add on to Broadway Kids. Take 10% off 2 classes.

Broadway Kids

Learn how to sell a song, follow and count choreography and act a part all at the same time! In the theatre we call it a “triple threat.” Expand your talents and performance opportunities. Great add on to CD2. Take 10% off 2 classes.

Basic Acting and Improvisation

Teen Acting Workshop

Ever wanted to stretch your acting muscles? Become someone else for a day? Spend your winter creating characters through myriad of acting styles and techniques.

From text analysis, various acting methods, scene study, improv exercises and so much more, you will enhance your actor’s toolbox and gain power and depth as a performer!.

The Candy Dish Writers

Are you someone who loves to write, but school writing assignments leave you uninspired? Tired of persuasive essays, rubrics, and test prep? Then this is the writing class for you. The Candy Dish Writers will play with writing prompts, poetry, word games, and inventing characters each week. You bring your notebook, flair for language, and imagination. Instructor Mary E. Cronin will bring the fun writing prompts, the thesaurus, and the candy dish for our writing table.

Ensemble building and text work! This workshop focuses on skills and materials necessary for live performance. Players may tour the final weeks of class!

Technical Theater Workshop

Explore the elements of set, sound, lighting design, stage craft and set construction for productions! Learn how to operate sound and light boards and crew for a show.

All materials are included but students must provide their own safety goggles as they will learn to use various tools, including power tools.

Comedy Improv

Explore the world of comedy, improvisation techniques, schtick , timing and comic characterization.

With the film and television industry bustling in New England, get a head start by learning the tools to become a successful on-camera performer. From crafting a scene to creating a character, from delivering a monologue to mastering commercial copy, this fun and informative class will give you everything you need to be ready for the camera!

Ethan Paulini began his training at the Harwich Junior Theatre and went on to receive his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emerson College in Boston. Now based in New York City, Ethan is a professional actor, working in New York Theatre, National Tours, Regional Theatre, National Commercials, Industrials and Television. He is the founding member of Spontaneous Evolution Ensemble (SEE Theatre), Interim Productions, a film based production company and Paulini and Howell Productions, a multimedia production company. He is a proud member of Actors Equity Association (AEA) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). Class meets at HJT.

Private Coaching for Musical Theatre

Diana is the music teacher at Harwich Middle School and has been training voices for over 20 years. Diana believes in an athletic approach to singing, one in which the body is strengthened as a vehicle for resonance and styalistic nuance. For an appointment call 508-432-2002 x11.

Fairy Tales for Adults

Fairy tales offer meaningful clues to our personal stories of making wishes, performing the heroic three tasks, encountering the wise old woman or man, and coming across animal helpers or scary challengers along the way. This workshop series constructs a theatre troupe to explore favorite and not so favorite fairy tales through enactment and entering the enchanting realms of self-discovery.
